Heidingsfeld Viaduct

Project
Replacement of the seven-span Heidingsfeld viaduct near Würzburg.

Owner
Autobahndirektion Nordbayern (Motorway Directorate of Northern Bavaria)

The bridge structure (BW 288a), which is part of the A3 motorway, consists of two 635-meter-long superstructures, which in turn consist of composite box girders, covered by concrete motorway surface. The construction height of the box cross-section is 4.60 meters. The bridge structure is produced in two construction phases. The installation of the superstructures occurs by means of an incremental launching method in six increments between 60 m and 125 m. The large components (sections) with lengths of 20 to 32 m are delivered from the factory by heavy-duty truck via the A3 motorway and assembled in the form station behind abutment 10 (west).
