Sponsors Cup of the Lilien in Darmstadt

This year the Sponsors Cup of SV Darmstadt 98 took place for the 12th time. Altogether 10 teams played for the popular challenge cup.

The Donges SteelTec team took part in the competition for the first time and was highly motivated. The Donges footballers were cheered on by their colleagues. In the end, they were delighted with their 7th place and one thing was clear for everyone: being there and being together in sport is the most important thing.

New back straight inaugurated at the Merck Stadium

Darmstadt, 02.02.2020. The assembly work of the steel roof construction for the new back straight in the Darmstadt stadium was completed on schedule. The first match of the Lilies could thus take place on February 2 as planned in front of the new backdrop.

Around 400 tons of steel were required for the construction of the new grandstand roof. In addition to the roof structure, Donges SteelTec also supplied and installed the roof and wall cladding.

Installation of the Schwelmetal bridge successfully started with moving traffic

Darmstadt/Wuppertal, January 29, 2020.

Since the beginning of January, the assembly of the steel structure for the replacement of the substructures 2 and 3 of the Schwelmetal Bridge built in 1960 in the course of the BAB A1 motorway has been in progress.

The Schwelmetal Bridge on the A1 motorway at the Wuppertal-Langerfeld junction spans several electrified railway tracks, public roads and waters. Up to 100,000 vehicles pass through the bridge every day. The two inner sections of the bridge, built in 1959 and 1960, are no longer sufficiently load-bearing due to the decades of stress and strain, especially due to increased heavy goods traffic.

The replacement construction of the bridge will be done “from the inside out”. This is the only way to maintain the traffic on the A1 motorway and on the DB AG track systems located underneath the bridge. The upper construction site on the A1 motorway has been set up as an island construction site.

The steel structure is being assembled using self-propelled transporters (SPMT).

Donges SteelTec has been commissioned with the fabrication and erection of the steel structure for the substructures 2 and 3 with a total span of 207m as well as the application of the corrosion protection.

Start of erection in Salzgitter

Darmstadt/Salzgitter, 13.01.2020.
This week sees the start of assembly work on the new hot-dip galvanizing production line at Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH.

Donges SteelTec has been awarded the contract for the construction of the 270 m long, 44 m wide and 45 m high hall with a statically optimized special proposal. The process hall is a steel frame construction dissolved in trusses with asymmetrical column dimensions. The stiffening of the frames is achieved by the arrangement of horizontal and vertical bracing.

Donges SteelTec supplies and erects the complete building envelope, that means the steel structure including crane runways, roof, facade, SHEVS, ventilation louvres, doors and gates.

Second bridge section has been mastered

Darmstadt/Linz 11.12.2019.
On Wednesday, 11.12.2019 the middle section of the second bypass bridge in Linz was successfully erected.
The 950 t heavy and over 90 m long bridge section was moved into position by ship and pulled into the end position by steel cables, just like the first bridge section. Thus, the second bridge section with approx. 3500 t over the Danube was also successfully established . In the coming weeks the assembly of the pylon will take place.

Erection of the steel structure has started

At the beginning of November, the erection of the steel structure for the new back straight “Am Böllenfalltor”, the venue of the SV Darmstadt 98, has started.

Donges SteelTec manufactures, supplies and assembles the steel roof construction for the new back straight in the Merck Stadium, Darmstadt.

Around 400 tons of steel are required for the construction of the new grandstand roof. The roof structure consists of 40 m long trusses that converge at the tips in a V-shape. The anchoring is carried out per axis via two supports and a tension anchorage, which are optimally designed for the changing stresses generated by the wind load. The main column stands on a solid steel component, which is concreted into the upper sawtooth beam of the grandstand. The scope of services also includes the roof and wall cladding.

Night mission went according to plan

In the night from 09 to 10 November the new railway overpass in Heppenheim (Bergstraße) was successfully lifted in. Completely manufactured and coated each of the components was transported by truck to the construction site where it was assembled in a tandem lift. The transport length was approx. 18.6 m with a unit weight of up to 100 tons.

Donges SteelTec has been contracted with the manufacturing, delivery and assembly of the steel construction for the railway overpass in Heppenheim, Germany. The railway bridge will span the railway line 3601 Frankfurt – Heidelberg via the federal road B 460 “Lorscher Straße”.

The overpass consists of two separate superstructures. Each superstructure is designed as a trough bridge with thick sheet metal. On one side of each of the two superstructures a walkway will be added. The span width of the bridge is approx. 15.40 m, the construction height 0.8 m. This results in a slenderness of L/H = 19.25. Each of the superstructures is 4.70 m wide. The pavements have widths of up to 1.45 m.

Beginning of November 2019, two parts of the bridge for the new railway overpass in Heppenheim (Bergstraße) were transported from Darmstadt to Heppenheim. How the 80-tonne, 18.7-metre long bridges reached their final destination was recorded in a short video…

The superstructure of the Viaduct Heidingsfeld has reached the other side of the valley

With the sixth and last movement of the 2nd construction phase, the superstructure reached the other side of the valley as planned.

In the coming days preparations will be made for stacking the bridge, which will bring it into its final position. Subsequently, our erectors will carry out the remaining work on the steel structure,

so that by the end of next year the 2nd construction phase will also be completed and opened to traffic.

Search: Trainees. Bid:  Steel-hard arguments.

We build with steel and would like to pass on our passion for this material. As of 01st September 2020, we are looking for apprentices to become Construction Mechanics and technical Systemplanners.

We have been building steel bridges and manufacturing innovative steel structures for over 140 years. Each construction is individual and a small masterpiece. Our trainees can expect a great team that cope with a wide range of tasks. We plan, develop, construct, complete and assemble architecturally demanding steel projects.

Our junior staff awaits a versatile and high-quality training. We demand and encourage and, of course, offer attractive and fair pay. Company training projects and an extensive training program come on top.

Here you can find more information about our two training paths.
